The children learn to roll and apply the ink and get used to the finished texture.
Sometimes the pupils can become frustrated at the finished print quality and try to over print. But eventually the overall effect will please them.
The patterns are endless.
Traditionally these should really look good with black ink on light paper but I like to use pastel coloured printing ink on black or coloured paper. The contrast is good and more importantly it makes much less mess!
Hello Maureen, I have just discovered your blog and have read all the way back to the beginning. I am in New Zealand and on our side of the world art teachers are also a dying breed. My school is going against the trend this year and I will only teach art. The classes will come to my room when their teachers have release time for assessment work. Thank you for sharing the work of the children and your ideas and comments. It is lovely to see the creative spirit from the other side of the world.
